Inheritor simplifies the process of managing your digital legacy. Here’s how it works:

  • : Grant access to your chosen beneficiaries with a unique key generated by the app.

  • Add important files, passwords, or messages. Everything is encrypted for your privacy and security.

  • Set your Regularly confirm your status through the app. If a check-in is missed after the grace period, your assets are securely transferred to your beneficiaries.

Step 1: Connect Your Beneficiaries

Connecting your digital will with a beneficiary is quick and effortless.

1. Ask Them to Download the App

Beneficiaries only need to download the Inheritor app—no sign-up, no setup, no sharing of personal details. Inheritor inheritances are fully anonymous by design.

Note: Beneficiaries have the option to add their name to the app if they wish. They can choose any name they like and the name will not be stored anywhere, ensuring 100% anonymity

2. Share Their Unique Key

Your digital will is secured with your beneficiary's unique key. Once they’ve downloaded the app, you can:

  • Scan their QR code in person.

  • Ask them to share the key via (encrypted) email or any secure messenger service.

3. Keep the App Installed

Your beneficiaries need to keep the app installed. After you’ve created the digital will, they’ll see an inactive “claim” in the app. The claim becomes accessible only when the inheritance is triggered.

Step 2: Create your digital will

Preparing your will

Before creating your digital will, think about:

  1. What you want to pass on: Passwords, personal messages, business documents, or a copy of your traditional will?

  2. How they’ll access it: Will they need login credentials, a password manager, or access to a two-factor authentication device?

Activating Your Will

  1. Select Your Assets Upload files directly from your phone or cloud storage. File sizes vary based on your plan.

  2. Choose a Beneficiary Select from the list of beneficiaries you’ve connected.

  3. Confirm Your Check-in Interval Check-in settings are applied across all inheritances to simplify management.

  4. Optional Settings:

    • Grace Period: Set an extra time window before the inheritance is activated after you missed your Check-in.

    • Anonymous Inheritance: Remove your name from the Inheritance.

With everything configured, tap "Create Inheritance." The app generates a tamper-proof smart contract on the blockchain.

Step 3: Check-in or pass on

The check-in feature ensures your digital legacy transfers only when necessary. Inheritor acts as a "dead man’s switch," requiring you to confirm your status at chosen intervals.

Choose Your Check-in Frequency

Set how often you’d like to check in (e.g., monthly or quarterly). These intervals ensure your assets are transferred only at the right time.

Stay Notified

As your check-in window approaches, the app will send reminders. Notifications will increase in frequency and urgency as the deadline nears.

Missed Check-ins

If you miss a check-in, your inheritance enters the grace period. Once the grace period ends, your assets become accessible to your beneficiaries. You can set a ‘grace period’ per inheritance in case you would like to add an extra layer of security to prevent early access.
